For existing Certified Businesses – conversion to the new upgraded ISO 14001: 2015 is both a challenge and opportunity. This is particularly challenging for Businesses with long standing Environmental Systems, who are in administration mode, when there is limited top management involvement or ownership.
The new Standard is less prescriptive and more encompassing & business oriented. Auditors will be looking for Leadership and top management commitment to be demonstrated. No longer is it acceptable for the management of the Management system to be delegated to an administration position. Recent guidance is for the Auditors to start Surveillance Audits with interview/s of top management.
Additionally the new Standard has extended to issues of the Environmental impact of your Product life-cycles and of your Supply chain.
For the Transition to the new Standard, we can offer a range of consultancy support including:
Explaining the changes
Working for improvements. What would you implement & manage differently, if you knew what you know now, when the Management system was first developed?
Revised Environmental Manual. In theory a Environmental Manual is not a requirement for the new standard. However, it is still a very useful way of covering a number of ISO 14001 requirements. Additionally, define the risks and opportunities as well as other new or changed requirements
Review and Update of your Documents, Procedures, Processes and Forms.
