According to ISO – “A standard is a document that provides requirements, specifications, guidelines or characteristics that can be used consistently to ensure that materials, products, processes and services are fit for their purpose”. Most ISO Standards relate to technical product compliance. However the most popular standards are the management related standards of which the most important is ISO 9001 with over 1 million certified organisations worldwide.
ISO 9001 title is “Quality management systems – Requirements”. The Standard can be used by the Organisation and external parties including Assessors from Certification Bodies to assess the Organisation’s ability to meet the customer, statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to its products and/ or services and the organisations own requirements.
